Blimey, has it already been almost a year since I was in the middle of launching my Kickstarter campaign for The Return of the White Animals oracle?!

When I launched the campaign in spring last year, I visited friends in the town where I now live, cute little Radolfzell am Bodensee (back then, I was still living in London).

And the whole campaign stressed me out biiiiiig timmmmeeee. So much so that I wanted to cancel it all shortly after launching it.

Will there be enough people wanting to support it?

What if there aren’t?

Lemme just put an end to this now and myself out of this misery of uncertainty!

Fortunately, I had some wonderful friends who talked sense – and patience and trust – into me!

So I didn’t cancel it. Luckily. Because – spoiler alert – it ended up being a successful campaign.

But when I was still feeling iffy about it, I had another encounter that changed my pressing desire to quit it all and go hide under a rock for a while.

And that encounter was with no one less than a main character from my oracle itself.

As I strolled through the cobbled streets of Radolfzell with my friends Anja and Gabi, we passed a gate in a wall that gave sight to a lovingly landscaped front garden – filled with flowers upon flowers.

And in this garden, there were also several cats.

One of them being completely white.

And of all the cats, guess which one came running straight to me from the back of the garden right up to the gate?

Exactly!

And White Cat threw herself on the floor, rolling around and stretching her paw under the gate to touch me.

(Which felt particularly poignant because I had just read the book “Saving the White Lions” by Linda Tucker, in which she describes a similar moment with a White Lioness, who stretched out her paw under the bars of a cell she was kept in, to touch Linda’s hand. Two very different circumstances, but somewhat similar nonetheless.)

And as White Cat’s paw touched my hand, it also touched my soul.

And I then recalled the message of the White Cat card from my oracle:

“When White Cat shows up for you, you are encouraged to surrender to the flow of life.

Not everything can and wants to be planned, and some of the most beautiful and life-changing moments happen when you least expect them. Live life day by day, and welcome each new experience with curiosity and an open heart. When you walk through life with your heart wide open, you will touch souls, and your soul will be touched in return.

White Cat shows you how wonderful life can be and how magically things can unfold when you let the flow of life carry you from one moment to the next.

Follow White Cat’s lead, and say 'yes' to life. Open your heart, trust yourself, and be courageous. The Universe will reward you with its infinite beauty.”

What else was there to say?

I then knew not to cancel the Kickstarter campaign. The White Animals had spoken.

And a few months later, the oracle was born.

Funnily enough, I have not seen White Cat since that day, even though I walk past that garden regularly.

I hope I’ll bump into her again one day, but I am sure she’ll make herself known again when the time is right.

Love,

Katharina

I tend to be quite sceptical of stuff, and I like to look at things from different points of view (see my recent blog post Time to Get Off Your Moral High Horse on that, if you like).

Give me a perspective, and I almost can’t help wanting to look at things from an opposing angle.

Call me a living and walking antithesis, the devil’s advocate or a pain in the butt, up to you.

I don’t subscribe to one way of thinking or living, whether it’s a spiritual practice by guru XYZ or a particular diet that claims to be the healthiest of them all.

My approach is more a “There is probably some truth to it, but not to all of it.”

And when a cultural narrative becomes especially trendy (for example, EVERYBODY suddenly talking about Human Design), I get very cautious.

(Always good to ask yourself: “Whom does that narrative serve?”)

And when it comes to finding the big answers in life, I particularly don’t like to follow any one concept, be it Ayurveda, yoga, Human Design, or something else. I like all these things, but I don’t make them my gospel.

Or take astrology as another example.

Most people know their sun sign (“I'm a Cancer!”, “I'm a Virgo!”, “I'm a Leo!”, and so on), and who doesn’t like to take the occasional glance at their horoscope every now and then?

But, at the end of the day, I believe we already carry all our answers within ourselves and don’t need external concepts. Sure, sure, they can be fun and helpful. But we don't need 'em.

As you can probably sense, I am not a big fan of following (someone else’s) systems.

(A good friend once told me: “All systems fail.” I leave you to ponder that one.)

All that might also just be the Manifestor in me speaking… (See, as I said, there is something useful in all these concepts, in this case, Human Design, but that doesn’t mean I fully subscribe to them 100 %, no questions asked. Always ask questions, always.)

I’ve talked about this at great length with my friend and sunshine in human form, Carolina Jakobi, an astrology and Human Design expert. And she very kindly and patiently endures my constant critical (but equally curious – hey, I am still open-minded, you know) questions on these matters.

So, one day last December, we were sitting in a café in Southern Germany and talked astrology. Over a chai latte that took forever because the café had a veeeery sloooow milk-heating machine, I had the pleasure of Carolina giving me a reading of my birth chart.

But let’s be honest here: The main thing I wanted to know was how MY birth chart related to the birth chart of A MAN I had/have feelings for (complex story, not one to share, really. I merely mentioned it to make you curious. Worked, didn’t it?)

Did you know you can put birth charts ON TOP of each other (a bit like putting a Barbie and Ken doll together and making them kiss) to see the relationship with the other person through an astrological lens?!

Maybe you already knew that, but I didn’t. And let me tell you, what Carolina told me was soooooo fascinating! And even sceptical, critical little me was hooked.

If there is ONE person in the world I could listen to for hours talking about astrology, it’s Carolina. That woman just has a natural gift for bringing across these topics in a relatable and fun way that leaves even the biggest sceptic like me enchanted.

Which is why I also bought her fresh new online course “Astrologie Direkt Er-Leben” (sorry, my English-speaking friends, this one's in German).

In this course, Carolina teaches all the basics of understanding your birth chart, the houses, the planets, and so on. (Translates to: "Soon, I will be able to analyse any future partner through the lens of astrology all by myself, muahahaha!")

So, if you also wanna learn more about astrology in bite-sized, fun and easy-to-understand videos, Carolina is your gal. There’ll also be regular live calls with her, where you can ask her all your questions (astrology-related, of course!), too.

Last year or the year before, I watched a video by Lukas Becker, in which he shared his position on a controversial topic in the spiritual scene.

And what struck me was his skill to offer a truly differentiated perspective on the subject – something I immensely value in people.

My favourite people, in whose presence my heart goes wide open, are those with whom I can look at a topic from different angles – without taboos, anyone holding on to opinions for dear life, or someone getting their knickers in a twist.

But it kind of also seems to be in our nature to feel personally threatened when someone doesn’t share our world view.

(Jonathan Haidt actually has done some illuminating work on this. Though last thing I heard, he’s kinda controversial now, too.)

It’s a phenomenon we could very well observe over the last few years, especially during 2020–2023ish, when certain topics managed to blow entire families and friendships wide apart. Because these topics were emotionally charged to the max.

And there’s certainly no shortage of those kinds of topics today either.

Shall I dare name but a few?

Okay, let’s see…

One of the current wars.

Climate change.

Veganism vs. eating meat.

The LGTBQ+ movement.

Certain injections...

The list goes on.

You take your pick of the above and see which one has your emotions spike and go “ding, ding, ding” like the bell of the funfair game High Striker after someone slammed down hard on its lever at the bottom.

If you can feel your blood boiling over the possibility that someone has a different view from you on one of the hot topics above, it simply means you’re human.

But it’s also an invitation to realise that you’re more than that.

Being able to rotate her neck 270 degrees, White Owl from my The Return of the White Animals Oracle, for example, is a master of looking at issues from different angles.

She reminds you that every single point of view, whether it's your own or someone else’s, is just that: one point of many.

As humans, we often believe we are right and someone else is wrong.

Because, naturally, our own perspectives make the most sense to us.

But the same applies to everyone else, too.

We all have reasons for our beliefs and convictions, and those reasons are as manifold as our opinions.

So ask yourself:

Where am I convinced I am right about something?

Where do I believe I know better than someone else?

Where do I feel I have the moral high ground?

Practise humility when it comes to your points of view, and remember that, at the end of the day, we are all souls walking on this Earth.

When you look down at the world from atop your moral high horse, White Owl invites you to expand your consciousness and reassume a critical distance from your own way of thinking.

Try to see through the eyes of someone who looks at the world differently.

If White Owl’s message resonates with you and you’d like to invite the wisdom of her and 40+ other White Animals into your life, you can get your copy of The Return of the White Animals Oracle here:
